La ruta comienza en Malaga’s port frente a las tiendas Bike Tours Málaga. El puerto está situado en una gran bahía natural y tiene una importancia fundamental para el sector turístico de la Costa del Sol. Durante todo el año atracan aquí algunos de los mayores cruceros y yates privados. También merece la pena visitar la zona portuaria de Muelle Uno, con el museo Pompidou, un café Hard Rock y numerosas boutiques y restaurantes.
Diríjase hacia el oeste desde el puerto, utilizando el paseo marítimo y el carril bici de la ciudad, hasta el Chimenea de la Central Térmica de La Misericordia (for a long time Malaga’s tallest building). After a stop for a photo, follow the cycle path until the roundabout in the Sacaba distrito. Don’t cross the street on this roundabout to stay on the cycle path, but go straight ahead and down the dirt ramp towards the nature park.
Desde aquí se puede pedalear por una buena pista de grava alejándose del mar hasta cruzar el primer puente blanco y luego tomar la cuesta arriba.
You’ll pass the entrance to the nature reserve which is home to a variety of native bird species. From the several bird hides you might even be able to spot flamingos, which occasionally visit the lagoon.
Another small burst of energy will take you to the Costa del Sol’s original beach resortTorremolinos, famosa por su vida nocturna y sus restaurantes. Siga el camino, cruce el puente verde y gire a la izquierda. Gire a la derecha en los 2 pilares de piedra para entrar en la calle Guadalhorce. Siga por esta calle hacia el oeste hasta que vea la salida Playa en la rotonda para dirigirse a la playa.
Following the beach promenade will take you into the heart of Torremolinos, la Carihuela, where you can stop for an ice cream or a beer. If you push on a little bit, you’ll reach the lighthouse of Benalmadena (about 20 km from your start point at Bike Tours Malaga).
Torremolinos is a former fishing village, but has developed into a vibrant multicultural city that attracts, especially in the summer months, numerous tourists who want to enjoy the sun, the beach and parties. During the winter months it regains its tranquility and it’s the locals who go for walks on the 9 km long sandy beach. Also, many chiringuitos (restaurantes de playa) ofrecen un delicioso almuerzo o un rápido tentempié de marisco.
Benalmádena es otro de los destinos más solicitados de la Costa del Sol, con amplias playas de arena, bares, hoteles, discotecas y el puerto deportivo, que ofrece espacio para más de 1.000 embarcaciones. Por encima de la ciudad, visite el telesilla Tivoli que le llevará a la cima de Monte Calamorro donde podrá asistir a una exhibición de cetrería. Desde Benalmádena, puede volver en bicicleta a Málaga o coger el tren de cercanías.
Siguiendo hacia el oeste llegará a la bonita ciudad turística de Fuengirola, a unos 30 km de Málaga. De nuevo, tiene la opción de volver en bicicleta o subirse al tren de la costa.
