After the football stadium you keep following the cycle path along the river and you come to town’s sports facilities, which are on the right side of the river. After passing the sport facilities and reaching the gas station, turn right. After 200 m take the roundabout and take 3rd exit – the road takes you to the Jardín Botánico de Málaga. After a few hundred meters (northwards), turn left under the bridge and after 50m you can decide whether to turn left to the botanical garden or right to the Malaga’s main water-supplying dam – great views from both. You could visit both of course. The dam is a little higher (e-bike highly recommended!) and the views possibly even more awesome! If you aren’t tired yet and want to continue to northwards, you will be rewarded with reservoir systems along the way including some tunnels and options for snacks in between ventas – small bars along the way.
You can come back to Malaga the same way. Next to the stadium, turn in the street Calle Albeniz. Tras una pequeña subida verás a tu derecha uno de los cementerios más famosos y bonitos de Andalucía: el Cementerio San Miguel. En San Miguel se encontrará con el Alameda de Capuchinos a Fuente Olletas (rotonda). Fuente Olletas era antiguamente una importante fuente de agua, de la que se abastecían los habitantes de la zona. En la rotonda, siga en dirección sur (Calle Cristo de la Epidemia). On the left you’ll see the Santuario de la Victoria, donde Fernando el Católico had his military base in 1487. The expulsion of the Moors from Malaga was conducted from here. After the capture of the city, the Austrian monarch gave Ferdinand the Virgin of Santa Maria de la Victoria as a victory gift. The Virgin is still in the church, in the Pantheon. The admission is 2 € but is highly recommended. As the Pantheon is run by volunteers, the opening times are only in the morning from Tuesday to Saturday, 10-13h.
After the Santuario de la Victoria puede girar a la izquierda en la Calle Ferrandiz a la Castillo de Gibralfaro y hacer una última subida. El castillo ofrece otra gran vista sobre la ciudad, esta vez desde el lado este hacia el Valle del Guadalhorce. El camino está bien señalizado. A continuación, baje Paseo de Salvador Ruedaque le lleva directamente al paseo marítimo. Al llegar al paseo marítimo, gire a la derecha en Paseo de Sancha. On the way into town you’ll pass the following places of interest: the Cementerio inglés (el primer cementerio no católico de España), Palacio Miramar (complejo hotelero de lujo) y la plaza de toros, La Malagueta.
